Funnies of January 15, 2007

-Today on my way to work, I saw a minivan complete with a handicapped-person license plate and spinning silver RIMS. Explain that one to me.

-"Hey, Culligan man!" On my way to work, I also saw a water truck parked along the side of the road. The truck apparently couldn't make it down a steep driveway without dropping its load - 40 or so 5 gallon water jugs were strewn across the roadway. Cars were actually driving through them like driver training school cones. Hilarious.

-Today at my desk, I blew the surge strip because I was running too much stuff out of it; my powerstrip includes but is not limited to a phone, a high-power printer, a battery recharging unit, a laptop, and a space heater. For some reason, this brings to mind my college apt. and how all appliances in the apartment ran off of two power lines... and how we would have to turn certain appliances off when we were running other appliances so that we didn't blow a fuse. Ah, the lovely days of college living!

-My favorite Heely-wearing roommate turns 25 today! Much love, Emmy!

Name that Object

"I have no idea what this thing is, but it looks like it would be a great display for your pearls... and it was only $1 at Goodwill," said my mom tonight when she gave me this treasure.

We had a good laugh flipping it in different directions (Maybe it was mounted on the wall? No. Maybe it was hung from the ceiling? No. etc. etc.) She thinks it's a display of some sort. I think it's a tandem banana rack. $1 to the person who can actually tell us what the hell it's used for.

Busy Weekend... Busy Life!

I haven't written in a while because life has been very crazy. Here's a quick update.

A great past weekend. On Friday, I went to the movies by myself (Emmy would be proud!) and then packed up my Christmas stuff while watching Cars and reminiscing about the open road and dreaming about more adventures with my girlfriends.

On Saturday, Dan and I went to a birthday party. The birthday girl: Lourdes, the one-year-old daughter of our buddies Paulynn and Larry. The theme of her party was "Candyland", so Paulynn had their basement decorated with lots of candy, brightly-colored helium balloons, and a Candyland Castle birthday cake. Great ethnic Philipino food and cute little kids in attendance. The best part of the event was watching Lourdes tear into her own little birthday cake (this was the first time she's ever had sugar, so she was pretty into it!). Went with Doug and Lexie to see our friend Dave play at a local coffee shop on Saturday night. Excellent as always.

Spent Sunday shopping, doing more Christmas cleaning, and coaching my bball game. My kids were stellar.... we won a 15-14 nail-biter!

Busy with lots of skating, bball, pearls, and SKI TRIP planning! Excited for the next few months.
